After Australian test car Cameron Green missed the 23-man list for the upcoming White Ball tour of the West Indies, he is now looking forward to his first Ashes series, due out December 8 in Gaba, Brisbane.
The 21-year-old car made his one-day international debut against India last December and should be on the tentative list. The snob has effectively avoided arguing over Australia's plans for the T20, but the Perth-based station wagon is less worried than deciding to shift its focus to the upcoming home summer - which includes a one-time test, a first against Afghanistan's Australia. And followed by a series of five ash tests.
"I was told I was on the original expanded team and (later) told I just missed it," he said. "But if you look at all the names on this list you can see why. They picked a very strong team that did well last year. Unfortunately, I didn't make it, but it's a great team and I'm sure they really will. "good there," he added.
The 21-year-old Wagen has a history of stress fractures and underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process before his home series against India, where he took all four tests - watts at six - and offered a fifth bowling chance. "This could be my first year as a professional cricketer, I went through this part of the year unscathed," he said of his fitness training.
"It's a nice little step this year to be fully capable and bottom from day one. I'm looking forward to a good pre-season here," he added.
